Global
We are commanded by Christ in Matthew 28:19,20 to "go into all the world..." These are some of the areas where you can think about donating time and resources to make a global impact on the Kingdom.
Adoption of Delta Company in Iraq
First Baptist Church was approached by Captain Ron Fisher, Chaplain, U.S. Army, with a proposal to have First Baptist Church adopt Delta Company while they are deployed to Iraq. Delta Company is part of the U.S. Army, 10th Mountain, 2nd Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment based at Ft. Polk, Louisiana and currently serving in Iraq.
Chaplain Fisher and his wife Amy were members at First Baptist from 2002-2003 at which time he took an associate pastor position with a church in California. It was there that Ron felt led to serve God in the military. When he heard they would be deployed to Iraq he set in motion an idea to ask churches to adopt a company of soldiers for 15 months. He has a great heart for his men (warriors as he calls them) and wants to make sure they are encouraged through prayer, cards/letters and care packages.
Supporting this Company is not political . . . it's giving our soldiers something from home; and just the thought that someone cares other than their families/friends can help keep them strong. If you've been there then you know just how much a letter or card of encouragement from homes can mean to a soldier.
China
A few individuals from our church family have visited China to conduct vocational and language missions. These have included medical training, evangelism and classes for English as a second language. These witnessing opportunities are more relational.
Dominican Republic
A team of missionaries from First Baptist Church of Corpus Christi in conjunction with South Texas Children's Home Ministries and a few from other churches in our area ministered during Spring Break 2009. Working through the TIME ministries on the island the group worked in medical clinics while another team worked in VBS activities with children. General medical needs were met as well as prescriptions and wellness / nutriition advice was provided. The ministry with the children was equally fulfilling and helpful for the people of the Domincian. A follow-up, Medical, Dential and VBS trip is being planned for July 18-25. Sri Lanka
OUR VISION: Feeling led by God and in response to Christ's Great Commission, we seek:
To be the presence of Christ to the people of Sri Lanka, who lost families, homes, livelihoods, hope in the tsunami of December 26, 2004.
To work closely with evangelical Christian churches and missionaries as we help rebuild lives, homes, communities.
To involve the entire church family as we go and as we provide financial and in-kind aid and continual prayer support.
To utilize all spiritual gifts in ministry as we build long-term relationships with the people of Sri Lanka.
Operation Christmas Child
Operation Christmas Child is a ministry of Samaritan's Purse, the international Christian relief organization headed by Franklin Graham. Every October, children, families, and groups from FBC fill empty shoeboxes with toys, school supplies, hygiene items, photos, and personal letters.
Operation Christmas Child then delivers them around the world to children suffering from poverty, war, disease, disaster and terrorism. Hundreds of shoeboxes are filled and wrapped to be distributed across the world.
Help FBC make a difference in the lives of children.
