As the summer approaches we are
extremely excited about what lies ahead of us. The Student Ministry at
First Baptist Church is looking forward to our outreach projects,
mission efforts, fellowships, and Summer Camp. With our young members
being out of school for a few months, we are provided with an amazing
opportunity to teach them, fellowship with them, encourage and love them
as a church in more ways than are possible during the school year.
One of the greatest opportunities we
provide our students with is that of summer Camp. Each year we are
blessed with how God moves among us and we see many students enter into
a personal relationship with God during this time. This year we will be
going to camp in Orange Beach, Alabama. We are returning to Ken
Freeman's Wild Week camp. It's an amazing experience. The worship
atmosphere is incredible and the teaching is immersed in God's Word.
This year's theme is "Operation I Am", finding out who we are in who He
is.
Out of the total number of teens who
are planning on going to camp, approximately 65 percent are in need of
financial assistance in order to actually get to go. We have also
encouraged our students to invite other friends to join us for this
opportunity. Those who are in need of financial assistance have agreed
to participate in S.T.R.I.V.E. (Students Turning Reponsibility Into
Valuable Experience). Students will be involved in various activities from
picking up trash on our beaches, cleaning vacant lots and painting over
graffiti. We use this as an opportunity to (1) show our community that
we care and want to do our part to make this a great place to live and
(2) raise money from within the church to help send more students to
special events such as Youth Summer Camp.
Two works days (May 10 and May 24)
have been scheduled when the students will be volunteering in the Corpus
Christi community and showing God's love. Please prayerfully consider
contributing to this cause. We are trying to raise $9,000. Please mark S.T.R.I.V.E on your envelope or check when
making a contribution.
Please keep this effort and our
students in your prayers. Praise God for what he is doing in our
ministry, for the hearts to be open, for friends to be invited, and for
everyone who wants to participate to be able to take part. If you have any questions, please contact
