God
is love, which means He gives; unconditionally, joyfully, impartially,
abundantly. God’s giving is for His own glory. This is what guides us in
our giving. God’s Word instructs us in the same way. We are told to give
to Him out of a grateful heart (Proverbs 3:9-10), a joyful heart (Duet.
14:22-29, 2 Corinthians 9:7), a willing heart (Exodus 35:4-29), and from
the abundance that He has given to us (1 Chronicles 29:10-22). We give
in response to His generosity and for His glory.
Options for giving:
1. Giving by cash or check in our services each Sunday.
2. Many choose to
mail in their gifts each month. Simply address the envelope to:
First Baptist
Church
3115 Ocean Drive
Corpus Christi, Texas 78404
Our Financial
office will be able to help you with these forms
4. The Online Giving is provided as
a convenience. Online giving can be a
direct transfer from your bank account to the church (eCheck) for
tithing, one-time gifts or reoccurring gifts for special projects.
5. Online giving
by use of your credit card - First Baptist Church does not want you to
give with your credit cards if you are not able to pay off your credit
card balance each month.
Giving Online
Giving online is one of the ways we encourage members to become people
of love and to give. We prefer that our members give during one of our
worship services since giving is an expression of thanksgiving and
worship of God. But we also recognize the fact that worship is a
lifestyle and can be done anytime and anywhere and that many of our
members are unable to worship with us at 3115 Ocean Drive on Sunday. We
hope that online giving will help our members express their gratitude,
joy, generosity, and faithfulness to God.
Tithing
Tithing is taking the first 10% of what God has blessed you with and
worshipping Him with it; with gratitude, joy, and a willing and faithful
heart. The tithe is given to God, not to the church. We give our tithes
along with God’s people at church, and the church uses the tithes to
fund the operations and various ministries the Holy Spirit leads the
church in doing, but the tithe is given to God. We encourage all of our
members to tithe because they believe that it is God who has given to
them everything they have, and because they are grateful to Him and
believe that this is how He has instructed us to say “thank You.”
Tithing and the
Church
If the tithe is given to God, what role does First Baptist Church play?
Our church is a fellowship of believers, called out by the Holy Spirit
to worship and glorify God as followers of Jesus Christ as our Savior
and Lord. Our church receives the tithes of the members and uses them to
fund the operations and ministries of the church. But we make it clear
that the church does not “need” money to live. This church lives by the
presence and power of the Holy Spirit. If we had a huge bank account and
lacked God’s Spirit we would be dead. Likewise, if we are filled with
God’s Spirit and all the money is gone, we would be as active and alive
as ever! We want to encourage our members to be grateful, generous,
joyful, believers in what God has said and done for us in Christ.
It is our hope that
online giving will serve you as you gratefully, generously, joyfully,
and faithfully give to our Lord Jesus Christ.
Keeping your information secure is our top priority.
In addition,
your banking information is never redisplayed after you enter it, even
to staff users. We also utilize industry standard and other proprietary

Tithing is a
biblical principal that can be a challenge for some. We believe that
everyone can reach this level of commitment through his or her own
budget/financial planning or with financial planning assistance. Our
church currently offers a financial training program to assist with
finances called Financial Peace University, offered as a teaching
resource to assist individuals and families in the management of money
and develop life skills to live debt free. (Click
